We are still working away here in Topeka. We have discussed education, the budget, and "Jessica's Law" (Tough of Sexual Predators). Nothing is completely wrapped up at this point. I voted for an education plan that failed today, but I hope that we can still get a good bill out of conference committee. The most appealing aspect of the education bill is that it secures funding for three years. I truly hope we can get passed this issue and go on to other pending important issues.

I will be running an amendment that reduces motor fuel tax by $0.07 a gallon. I am not sure how that will turn out. I am counting votes and I am having difficulty building a 63 vote coalition. This is somewhat surprising to me, although I do understand the motive - heavy road contractors with fat campaign checks and political pressure from the Governor's office.
